Fashion! Celine, the Queen & Cross dressers

Fashion tiiiiime! I seem to be picking up directions for you girls more than the guys. Here goes:

1. I found this great picture of Queen Elizabeth dressed for her sister's wedding in 1960. What a beautiful look! If you are going to get married and don't want to wear white, this is a great look for someone mature who still wants a fancy wedding. I just read that someone was at a cour t function and the Queen was entering with her mother, the Dowager Queen, right behind her. He heard the Dowager Queen say, " Who do you think you are?" Her daughter was in the unique position to respond, "The Queen of England."

2. Why do I like Celine so much? This blouse is great, the shoes ridiculous. Also the turban. I think it's coming back. Such a good look for grown up women and particularly now that the long hair is on the way out.

3. I know this is ridiculous, but I have seen several photos of this yellow Carolina Herrara dress with the fancy shoulders and it really looks terrific on. And hte little shocking pink belt? Really good. You won't find a copy but think of this look and this color For a major party dress this is really good. And no plunging bosom. I am really tired of that!

4. Also want to show you these pictures from China-an 82 year old man who is modeling his granddaughter's designs. Wild. And excellent legs!

Dear David,
Do you ever think about giving up sex altogether? One of my older friends says she just doesn't want to give someone else that much time.
~Sex Less

Dear Sex Less,
Never. I feel that if I can have a sex life until I am 90 I will have accomplished something. You need the body contact to keep from getting bent and unattractive. Really! Staying desirable is staying healthy.

Handsomest Man in the World ~ Taylor Kinney

This week's Handsomest Man in the World is very very handsome. He's Lady Gaga's boyfriend Taylor Kinney. He's in the movie Zero Dark Thirty and on the TV show Chicago Fire. He's really got it. I find all the new male actors looks alike, but he does not.

It seems he may not be very tall - the photos above from Vogue the model Amber Valletta sees to be scrunching down a lot. But she's probably well over six feel in heels.

Mom problems...

Dear David,
My parents are visiting and I find myself more and more having confrontational a refinements with my mother, who is always criticizing me and my life. She is a very confrontational person and I don't know how to deal with her.
~Man with a mom

Dear man with a mom,
One thing I've learned is that anger and agressiveness is always triggered by fear. If you are not afraid you don't get angry. Your mother is probably very fearful. She may be afraid that you won't be there for her later in her life. All you can do is reassure her they you care for her. And her trying to pick fights? Just change the subject. Buy her little presents. Talk to her about clothes. You
Can do that. Remember, when she's bossy she's afraid of something. It will help a lot.

Choosing between 2 different men...

Dear David,
I'm involved with two different men. One is more mature, has money, likes me a lot and is comfortable and pleasant to be with. The younger one is high energy, likes sex everyday and can't keep his mitts off me. I feel I should bedside between them because it's been going on for some time. What do you have to say?
~Two for One

Dear Two for One,
Chose the younger one! I have two rules in my life that never vary and come from experience. When deciding between jobs that the one that pays the best. There is little difference between a good job and a bad one. And when you say to yourself, "what am I doing here?" you can answer "I'm being paid a lot of money to be here."

As for men, trust me. The kinds of problems the younger one will give you are the kind most people would love to have. Go with him, you won't regret it!

Handsomest Man in the World ~ Phil Winser

Well here we are with another Handsomest Man in the World day. I have just returned from Montevideo, Uruguay and I want to go on the record that the men there are just getting handsomer and handsomer - wow. There are so many handsome men in Uruguay they think that is how it should be. And no one is on their way to Hollywood - it's great!

My choice for Handsomest Man in the World this week is Phil Winser, who owns The Fat Radish a pub in New York. Please note the hair, which is a return-to-the-sixties direction for you guys. He is the boyfriend of actress/model Dree Hemingway (a descendant of Ernest Hemingway) - but you can dream about him being yours.

Is this adult love?

map by vladstudio.deviantart.com

Dear David,
I have a boyfriend who lives in a foreign country who is very taken with me. I appreciate his intelligence, education, he is a pleasure to be with, excellent body and sexiness but...I am not in love with him. I have told him that and we have a kind of intimacy, but I cannot call it love. Is this adult love? What gives?
~ S.Lightly Baffled

Dear Mr. Baffled,
If you read my blog regularly I am sure you've heard me say that in my opinion in every relationship - there is the lover and the loved one. You probably have always been the lover. Now it’s your turn in the barrel. My take on you is that you might fall in love with someone else after you have committed to your foreign lover and that could become a big problem. I think you should keep it as a romantic love affair between foreigners for the moment. Your feelings may shift. Any long term relationship will always involve a shifting back and forth as to who is the lover and who is the loved one. I’d wait this out for awhile.

boring sex life with partner!

Dear David,
My lover and I have been together for five years. I love him very much but to be honest, the sex has become very routine and boring. There is no talk of three-ways or the usual gay stuff that never works, but I feel I owe it to him to keep his sex life exciting. Your ideas, please.
~Sexbound

Dear Sexbound,
This is the problem all loving couples face. Here are the questions to ask yourself:
1.Do you need to lose weight?  My New Year’s resolution every year is to remain f#*kable. I am currently on Shape Lovers diet here in Miami, which is great. They deliver two meals a day and it’s not expensive. And you lose. It works. See if there’s something similar in your area. And to add more, should you change your hair color? If you are of any age and have hair, going “Suicide Blonde” (the Jean Harlow color) seems to work great.

2. Have you really explored all the stuff sexually he might like to do?  Don’t be a prude. It’s your life and the neighbors don’t need to know.

3. Take separate vacations. You’ll come back as an attractive stranger. He may just be seeing too much of you on a daily basis.

4. My own rules are ”Never eat in" and "Never go in the bathroom together” - but it’s probably too late for that.  Keep me posted. Good luck!

Fashion ~ Bracelets & Black & White

My fashion direction this week is for the girls again because I found some excellent pictures. Accessories this week:

1. Bracelets. These David Yurman slip-on bracelets (worn by Gisele above) are great. And there are some excellent copies around for not a lot of money. One or two with your watch are plenty - this is a very good look.

2. The black and white, shoes, purse, eyeglasses, etc. I particularly like those white loafers with the black band and heel. A really new look with black or white pants and a smart jacket.

_______________________________________

Dear David,
I am never going to be thin. I am not overweight but I have a kind of squared off torso, no waistline. I'm bulky even though not fat. How should I dress? What kind of menswear can work for me?
~the Atlanta Phantom

Dear Atlanta Phantom,
Do not despair. You actually sound kind of hit! Maybe you are at your best undressed? This of it that way. But back to reality. First of all, could you bear to wear cowboy boots? I works with a company President who always wore them. They stretch you out and you automatically look longer. Jackets: make sure they are trim and snug to your body. Do not wear loose-fitting jackets. Also , shirts with the shirttail out for casual wear I see everywhere all the time. That will work for you. So, button that jacket, pull on those cowboy boots, and pull out your shirt when off duty. This will work!

Tired of the cold!

Dear David,
I'm in New York and I'm tired of all the clothes I have to wear in this cold weather. What did you do when you lived here? Were you always all bundled up?
~Overcoated

Dear David,
I know, I know. I was just there and took too many outer garments. Where the hell to put them in a cafe, theater, etc.? My solution would be one of those short little overcoats that are almost a long suit jacket. And a great big very warm/thick scarf and knit gloves. Maybe the scarf and gloves in cashmere (if you can afford it). Maybe a little cashmere stocking cap, too. If you're really bundled up around your neck and chest and then the extremities you really aren't that cold to need a big long puffy jacket. You're in New York, not tramping across the tundra. Try this.

I need a pep talk about growing older...

Dear David,
I need a pep talk about growing older. I hear a lot of blather about growing wisdom and feeling calmer with age. I think I'm wise enough, I just don't life the idea of being gray and wrinkled and all bent over. Help!
~Auntie Agony

Dear Auntie Agony,
What a coincidence to have your message. I am 83 today and about to open in a new musical where I do a fan dance in a body stocking and high heels. Don't plan to age gracefully. Age the way you want to. Exercise a lot, see your plastic surgeon, go blonde, go south! There's a whole new world opening up so hang onto your body and your looks and go for it!

    Fashion ~ Black & White

Fashion direction this week! Maybe it's because my color psychology has dictated that I must wear black and gray this year to have success but I am liking black and white. there has been a spate of bright color around but I actually thinking for grown women in the winter time, black and white looks great.

Handsomest Man in the World ~ Channing Tatum

This week's Handsomest Man in the World is Channing Tatum. After seeing him in that stripper movie "Magic Mike", there is just something about him. Maybe it's the "nice guy gone bad" vibe he exudes...

    Are you avoiding reality?

    Dear David,
Here we are in 2013 with the same old problems. I've found myself for a while now very attracted to a married man who doesn't know I'm alive. I feel very drawn to him.
    ~The Impossible Dream

    Dear Impossible Dream,
I think that you should think about why you are so attracted to the impossible. To me, there's no real risk there. Ask yourself: Are you're afraid of falling in love with someone who is available? And why? And how about allowing someone to fall in love with you. You may just be avoiding reality, now that is something to think about...

    New Year's promise to yourself...

    Dear David,
Happy New Year 2013! What is your New Year's promise to yourself?
    ~Just Askin'

    Dear Just Askin',
You are nice asking me about myself. I've been on a diet and vowing to stay thinner this year. This is of course to make me more f%*kable. (You know that word.) Being lovable isn't just a matter of personality, you know. Thanks for askin' just askin'!
