Do you ever get tired of sex?

Dear David,
Do you ever get tired of sex? You have a lot of do I. Does your interest wear out?
~Sensual Wipeout

Dear Sensual Wipeout,
I wouldn't say I've ever gotten tired of sex because I have never gotten tired of being in love. I have fallend out of love and not been interested in sex with that person. Sex with the same person over a long period of time can explore a lot of areas and you can learn a lot about yourself, the other person and life's possibilities. I think when gay men have the same kind of sex with a lot of different people, yes,  I think a person could get tired of that.

Qualms about growing older...

(Photo above of Salta, Argentina)

Dear David,
I'm in my middle 50s. I think I look about 8-10 years younger. Lately I've been having some qualms about growing older. It's doesn't look good to me when I see older gay men in bars and partying all night. I know you have a definite point of view about all this. Tell me!
~Aging A. Bit

Dear Aging A. Bit,
You are a kid compared to me! With the new trends in aging you must remember you are perhaps only halfway through your life. The latter half is when you do all the stuff you always wanted to do, planned to do, are discovering to do. and this includes romance and sex. Just keep going to the gym so your body remains strong, study something so your brain doesn't decay and make some plans. I just came back from Salta, Argentina. A sizable city lost in northern Argentina. Very old, great looking people, a culture quite different from ours. Do stuff like this, the best part of your life is ahead of you!

Handsomest Men in the World ~ Takeshi Uematsu & Daisuke Ueda

Handsomest Man in the World How about Handsomest Men in the World? I ran across an article on a Zen group in Japan. These men are fundamentally monks - but I do want you to remember that Zen is a spiritual study, it is not a religion. Here you have Takeshi Uematsu and Daisuke Ueda - these guys are great!

Dear David,
Do you think people ever move beyond sexual desire, even in old age?
~Hot & Hitting Seventy

Dear Hot One,
They say they do but I don't believe them. I think we always want to physically connect with other humans, we just kind of give up on the possibility as we lose our looks. We shouldn't! I think you don't lose it and can use it when the other person turns you on. If they don't, of course you don't get excited. For men and women alike, keep as fit as you can, don't ignore cosmetic surgery, get out and meet younger people in adult education classes or charitable activities. Honestly, you're always somebody's type. Jsut don't ignore them. there is nothing wrong with being hot and sexy after sixty. Really!

What about cosmetic surgery?

Dear David,
What about cosmetic surgery? Where do you stand on this?
~Drooping A. Bit

Dear Drooping A. Bit,
It comes to everyone, my friend. It comes to everyone. If you don't like what you see in the mirror you can and should do something about it. Just for your own morale. When your jawline and your neck all become one thing, it's time to act. These operations are simple and tightening your neck, lifting the bags under your eyes -all this can be done and your friends will just say you look rested. I went out of circulation when I was 65 and I had myself redone. I was back in circulation immediately and although no one seemed to notice or mention it. Remember, you just want to look good for your age. You can only look ten years younger than you are. And go to a doctor who had done good work on a friend you have seen. Do NOT try to get a bargain.

Help! My lover is a restless sleeper...

Dear David,
I have a lover whom I care about very much. We have a great connection mentally and physically. The only problem is that he is a very restless sleeper with much tossing and turning. I am not. He does not like to sleep in the same bed with me because of all this hurling about. I hate having to go to sleep in another bedroom. What to do? I know you have the answer!
~D. Sturbed Sleeper

Dear D. Sturbed,
I have the answer: Two double beds in the same bedroom. Even up tight. I don't care if you have to use the largest room in the house or apartment, do it. You definitely do not want him sleeping in a separate room. You have to be handy when he needs you. If you know what I mean and I think you do.

Love is the answer

Dear David,
You seem to think that life really revolves around love and the sex involved. Yet so many people don't seem to have those kinds of lives. Do you ever wonder if you're right?
~Luv's the Answer

Dear Luv's the Answer,
Never. I think in this world of many conflicts and disappointments that if you really experience true love for another person you will not check out at the other end feeling unfulfilled. I just read "The Gallery" by John Horne Burns, the first real post World War II novel about Naples during the war and he has a wonderful chapter on the same subject. Even in that awful world of desperation and brutality people fell in love. It's great. He is largely forgotten now as he never wrote another important novel and died at 36, but he lived a lot in those 36 years.

As I say over and over again, it doesn't matter what other people think of you, only what you think of yourself. And you deserve the unforgettable experience of love!

I tend to feel sorry for myself a lot. Is there anyway out of this?

Dear David,
I tend to feel sorry for myself a lot. Is there anyway out of this?
~Dee Pressed

Dear Dee,
Come on! I can bet that most of the people on the planet have more problems and less money than you. They know from research that being unhappy about your life or liking it doesn't have much to do with the real problem you have have. Some really poor folks are perfectly content and like their lives. Some rich ones are the reverse. My advice is that when you start feeling sorry for yourself think of a friend who is in worse shape and give them a call. Take them out to lunch. Cheer them up. It will cheer you up!
